Alex Ferguson, 1986 yılında Manchester United'ın başına geçtiğinde İngiltere'nin en büyük takımı Liverpool'du. Ancak aradan geçen yıllarda kırmızı-şeytanlar, Liverpool ile arasındaki farkı kapattığı gibi, sadece Ada'nın değil, Avrupa'nın tartışmasız en başarılı kulüplerinden biri haline geldi.
Manchester United ile 12'si Premier Lig, 2'si Şampiyonlar Ligi olmak üzere 30'dan fazla kupa kazanan Alex Ferguson, haftasonu oynanacak Sunderland maçında kulübün başındaki 25'inci yılını kutlayacak.
Futbolcuları, takımın başında 1409'uncu maçına çıkacak menajerlerine övgüler yağdırdı. Tüm kariyerini Ferguson ile geçiren Ryan Giggs de onlardan biriydi. Deneyimli menajerin başarısının sırrını çalışma ahlakına ve futbol sevgisine bağlayan Giggs, "Şampiyonlar Ligi'nde deplasmandan sabaha karşı evimize dönsek bile, Ferguson her zaman sabah 8'de antrenman sahasındaki yerini alır ve herkesten sonra ayrılır" diye konuştu.
Takımın genç Meksikalısı Javier Hernandez ise ülkesinde bir teknik adamın 25 yıl görevinde kalmasının mucize olacağını söyledi. Ferguson'ın futbola olan tutkusu ve oyun tarzındaki değişimlere ayak uydurmasının, en önemli başarı reçetesi olduğunu vurgulayan genç futbolcu, "Her maça, sanki ilk kez takımı yönetiyormuş gibi çıkıyor. Hala kazanmayı hepimizden fazla istiyor" şeklinde konuştu.

La Liga'da attığı 40 golle Avrupa liglerinde en fazla gol atan oyuncu olan Ronaldo, ödülünü iki efsane Eusebio ve Alfredo Di Stefano'nun elinden aldı. Altın Ayakkabı'yı kazandığı için çok mutlu olduğunu belirten Portekizli, "Yine de Şampiyonlar Ligi ve La Liga'yı kazansak daha iyi olurdu. Benim bu ödülü almış olmam, takım arkadaşlarımın bana ne kadar yardım ettiğini gösteriyor" dedi.


Henüz 26 yaşında olduğunu söyleyen Ronaldo, "Yaşım daha genç. Her geçen gün yeni şeyler öğreniyorum ve kendimi geliştirmeye çalışıyorum. Umarım futbolu bıraktığımda insanlar beni tarihin en iyi oyuncuları arasında gösterir" diye konuştu.

Messi ile karşılaştırılmaktan herhangi bir rahatsızlık duymadığını ifade eden yıldız oyuncu, "Onunla bir rekabet içerisinde değiliz. İkimiz de sahaya çıkıp futbol oynamak ve seyircileri eğlendirmek istiyoruz. Sadece Messi değil Avrupa'nın tüm üst düzel oyuncularıyla mücadele etmeyi seviyorum. Ancak takımım kazanamadıktan sonra kimin daha iyi olduğunun hiçbir önemi yok" sözlerini kullandı.

Grzegorz Sandomierski- Genk's new goalkeeping sensation

21-year-old Polish goalkeeper Grzegorz Sandomierski has recently completed his transfer to Belgian champions Genk.

The 1.96m-tall is the ideal replacement for Genk, who parted with the extraordinarily talented 1.98m-tall Thibaut Courtois , who signed a five-year-deal with Chelsea for an estimated transfer fee of €9M.

Genk have obviously shown a great nose for finding goalkeepers, parting with one great future talent and signing another.

Sandomierski was signed to a five-year-deal with Genk for a transfer fee that stands at around €1.6M, leaving Genk with a great profit from both deals and a possibility to produce further incomes should Sandomierski continue his development.

The signing of Sandomierski adds an interesting twist to a remarkable number of important goalkeeping swaps that have taken place this summer:

While Sandomierski was signed to replace Courtois at Genk, the Chelsea signing was sent on a loan deal to Atletico Madrid in order to replace the departure of David De Gea to Manchester United.

Furthermore, prior to signing Courtois, Chelsea were actually targeting Sandomierski as a future replacement to Petr Cech.

Georgi Terziev- The prolific Bulgarian centre-back

19-year-old Georgi Terziev , is considered as one of the best young central defenders in Bulgaria.

In 2009 Georgi was signed to a five-year-contract with Chernomorets Burgas . This season will be his third in Chernomorets senior squad.

Apart from his domestic success in Bulgaria, Terziev has gradually defined himself as a regular player for Bulgaria's national youth sides.

When he was 17 years old he was already called up to play for the Under-19's and he was recently included in the Under-21 squad, representing Bulgaria in the group stages of the UEFA U-21 Championship.

Terziev was a starter for Bulgaria in the recent two matches for the Under-21's, the first in a 1-0 loss to the Netherlands and the second a 0-0 tie against Scotland.

17-year-old striker, John Jairo Ruiz Barrantes, is one of the most intriguing young players in world football that are still playing in their domestic leagues, has been followed closely by several high profile sides.

With every new season Costa Rica has been providing the football community with a growing number of football talents, who can play at the top levels in Europe.
One of the most notable Costa Rican players in recent years is 26-year-old Bryan Ruiz, who recently signed with Fulham, after a successful two years with Twente and opened the door to many other talents.

Another related signing, which may have had a massive effect on the feasibility of Costa Rican youngsters, was the signing of Joel Campbell by Premier League giants Arsenal.

19-year-old Campbell participated with John Jairo in the recent 2011 Under-20 World Cup held in Colombia, both players helping Costa Rica to the knockout stages, but eventually lost to Colombia in the Round of 16.

At the end of the tournament John Jairo was the top goalscorer for Costa Rica with 3 goals, while Campbell chipped in with a brace.

When Mateo Kovacic was only 13, playing for Austrian side Lask Linz`s academy, his extraordinary talent was already spotted by some top European clubs. Bayern Munich, Juventus and Ajax tried to lure his family in order to land the wizkid, and VFB Stuttgart even offered his father a well paid job in Mercedes.


But Mateo wanted to play for his beloved Dinamo Zagreb , father Stipo wanted to live in the Croatian capital saying "Drinking coffee there is worth much more than thousands of Euros", and the rest is history. The family left Austria, and Dinamo put their hands on this great asset, a gifted playmaker who is soon to pay dividends.

Some 3 years later, aged 16 years and 198 days, Kovacic became the youngest player and scorer in the history of the Croatian top league, Prva NHL (watch the video below). About this time he made his debut for the Croatian U-17 side, and its coach, Martin Novosalek, was quoted saying that he hasn't seen a youngster with so much talent since the days of the former Croat superb playmaker, Robert Prosinecki.
After 7 appearances throughout last season, in 2011/12 Kovacic became a regular first team player with Dinamo, for whom he scored 4 goals and delivered 2 assists in 14 domestic matches so far in his short career. He also played twice for the Croatian U-20 team. But in the case of this starlet, dubbed as "The Croatian Lionel Messi" by local pundits due to his technical abilities, a look at the statistics – which are not bad at all - hardly tells the story.

"In my neighborhood they called me 'Luquitas' (little Lucas), because I was always the smallest".

One could never imagine that this 17 year-old, trapped in such an enormous body, would ever be given such a diminutive nickname. 82 kg stretched over 187 cm, Lucas Ocampos is the new revelation of River Plate, already drawing comparisons to his idol Cristiano Ronaldo , due to his physique, role and style of play.

The fairy tale began some two years ago, in mid-2009. Ocampos, born and raised in Quilmes, a neighborhood in south Buenos Aires, scored a brace against River`s youth team, whose coach was so impressed that he told the team`s management: "You must sign the kid".

The deal was sealed when Ocampos returned from the South-American U-15 championship later this year, where the he caught the eye again delivering two goals for Argentina. His good performance at the U-17 world cup this summer, where he started all 4 matches, earned him a call for River`s senior team pre-season matches.
It was not long before club veteran and current first team coach, Matias Almeyda, decided that "this young bull" deserves a bigger stage to showcase his talent. "Lucas Ocampos is a real crack, quite unstoppable. He has a tremendous future", Almeida praised. Future? Ocampos became an instant hit in the Primera B Nacional. He found the net in his 2nd league match to become River`s second ever youngest scorer, after Javier Saviola, then adding another goal a week later. He started in all of River`s first seven league matches, also adding two assists.

Although Ocampos has been playing alongside club heroes such as Fernando Cavenaghi and Alvaro Dominguez, and fellow Argentinian Lionel Messi is regarded as the best footballer in the world, the young sensation eyes are set on someone else: "I always watch Cristiano Ronaldo , because he plays on the line and cuts inside to produce a shot on goal. And he's very fast in one on one situations. I try to imitate him. Everybody want to be like Messi, but Ronaldo is the one I like."
