Background and History

Born in Cacak Serbia, Markovic started his youth career playing for local team Borac Cacak.

His older brother Filip Markovic, who was also a young footballer, was transferred to play in Belgrade in 2006, moving with his mother to the countries capital, while the boys father stayed to work in Cacak with Lazar.

Had it not been for Lazar's desire to play near his brother and mother, he might have not gone on a trial with the Black & Whites the same year.

Partizan officials were immediately impressed by Lazar, signing him over to their youth academy.

Strengths

Lazar's biggest assets are his dribbling abilities, able to control the ball with both feet and find his way towards the goal from almost every position on the field.

The teenager is usually used as a right forward, but he can play at all attacking positions, including as a winger on both flanks- a position in which he may be used at more frequently in the future, due to his small body size and quick pace.

Although quite short for a Serbian striker, in comparison to the ones we have become accustomed to in recent years, the 1.75m-tall has accurate heading skills, enabling him to make up for his height and average aerial ability.

Weaknesses

Markovic is currently used as a second striker at Partizan and should he continue playing in this role he must work on his physical abilities in order to fight off defenders that get in his way.

Mentality

Lazar is considered to have a great character, always in a good mood and showing much confidence in his ability to succeed.

Evidence to his confidence can be seen in his first league appearance this season against Novi Pazar, substituted into the match after just 22 minutes of playing time, ending the match with the first senior goal of his career.

Current Situation

At the moment it is really to soon to speak of possible future accomplishments for the youngster and he must focus on the present in order to proceed in his career.

Lazar's current participation on the field at Partizan is reassuring and as long as he continues to impress and showoff his abilities in the little time that he receives each match, he might acquire himself a regular spot in the teams formation even sooner than expected.
